What the world believes

In case you are looking for an answer to this question, the 700+ pp. research report What the world believes (Gütersloh, Germany: Verlag Bertelsmann Stiftung 2009) might be of help. This research is based on asking (via a questionnaire with over 100 questions in most cases but also via interviews) 21'000 individuals in 21 countries (including Australia, Great Britain, and the USA as well as Israel, Islamic countries, countries with a majority of Buddhists, etc.) about six core dimensions of their religiosity (intellectual interest, belief, public practice, private practice, experience, consequences) and their centrality compared to other issues, concerns and areas of life. Based on the strength of the latter parameter, the results distinguish highly religious, religious and non-religious persons. The results are presented in numerous tables and specialized articles written by experts.
